conject Falcon Flash - December 2011

Dear Friends and Customers of conject,
traditionally, the Christmas edition of Falcon Flash, looks back over the past year and reflects on conject's achievements within the market.
Around the world, many customers were able to optimize their processes around real estate projects and property management with our support, from project initialisation to operations and from project collaboration to facility management and real estate transactions. To all of our long term customers we'd like to say how happy and proud we are that you continue to have faith in conject and to all of our new customers it is great to be part of your success!
We hope that you and future conject customers will enjoy reading about industry best practices and how conject could help customers in Germany, Poland, Russia and the UK in improving their processes around invoice approvals, LEED certification, comprehensive program management and NEC3 compliance.
We would also like to share with you the results of a recent survey we conducted on the topic of Building Information Modelling (BIM), a topic we think will gain more and more importance over the course of the next years. We have already started to adopt our products to BIM, so we will be ready when you are!
In addition, as it's the festive season, we have included a new online game for your enjoyment - we hope you have some fun with it.
I hope you enjoy the newsletter and best wishes for Christmas and the New Year!
Your Cesar Flores

Master the challenges in project development
conject supports project developers in all phases of the real estate life cycle. From initialisation to conversion it supports the implementation of core processes and automates routine tasks and minimizes the biggest project risk – time. This becomes most relevant when decisions about feasibility of a project have to be made quickly, when mile stones need to be monitored (payment targets, warranty periods, liability risks) and when the real estate should be sold.
Read in our whitepaper where conject can offer support in each phase of the project development life cycle.
Checkpoints in the invoice process
Metropolis Real Estate GmbH from Vienna has placed its confidence in conject pm., software for drawing management and project communication, for handling its invoice process. In this interview, the company's executive partner,Thomas Müller, talks about the benefits of pm. and how it has led to an improvement in process quality in one of his construction projects.
Results of our BIM Survey
While most BIM Adoption struggle today due to limited acceptance within the organization and limited user knowledge, the challenge of next year will be technical implementation topics of BIM. How do I integrate all parties (including subcontractors) into a different working approach? How can I share huge model files? How do I organize approvals processes of models?
Read more about perceived advantages and challenges in BIM adoption in our global BIM Survey we have conducted in the UK and Central Europe. 881 conject and BIW customers and market participants have contributed their answers to the survey. It was interesting to monitor, that the difference between the countries was marginal.
Higher project quality and LEED certification with conject Smartflows at Skanska Property Poland
Skanska Property Poland is a project developer, focusing on green office buildings in Poland. It is part of the Swedish Skanska Group with 60,000 employees worldwide. conject is used in all of Skanska's new projects to improve project management, document control, corporate archiving and due diligence. It ensures good communication and clear approval processes. It also facilitates standardization of processes and project structures as well as a fast and comprehensive search.
"We have chosen conject to be our central document management platform, which incorporates project development with corporate and legal documentation. Furthermore conject is essential, when aiming for Green Building certification, because it ensures that all review and change management processes are handled as specified and the documentation required for the certification is complete and up-to-date", says Piotr Srokosz, Project Manager, Skanska Property Poland.
conject supports program management for Skolkovo City
In August 2011, conject was awarded a contract to support the development, design and construction of Skolkovo City in the outskirts of Moscow. conject will be used to integrate all communications between Skolkovo Foundation and its consultants and contractors. In order to manage the immense complexity of this huge project, a set of program-wide standards for drawing approval, drawing delivery and change management was designed, implemented and rolled-out to all program participants. As a result, conject has helped enable smooth team collaboration for all world-wide users on the Skolkovo program. Operating processes online has helped project participants to perform their roles with the benefit of the very latest information.
The Skolkovo innovation city is being constructed following the request of Dmitry Medvedev, President of Russia, to "create in Russia a powerful research and development center, which would focus on supporting all the priority areas", expressed in the President's annual message to the Federal Representative Meeting in November 2009.
NEC3 effectively managed to help deliver new animal health research centre
The Roslin Institute has recently moved into it's new home, - a state-of-the-art research facility on the University of Edinburgh's Easter Bush Veterinary Campus. To ensure the project was constructed as planned, the client team engaged BIW Technologies Limited, the UK representation conject AG to help implement a highly structured and auditable framework for managing NEC3 contract communications and control project documentation.
