Searching for Drawings and Documents
About which of the following points do you have questions?
You are searching for documents in the Project Space?
Depending on the chossen search option you can search for documents, drawings and conversations in the Project Space. The following search options are available:
Project-Related full text Search
Project-Related, Advanced Search for document names
Global full text Search (even drawings and conversations)
Project-Related Search
If you search for a document name or document content in a specific project, please use our project-internal full text search:
- In the Start Page, click on the respective project in which you want to search for a document.
- Go to the "Documents" application.
- Enter the search term in the search field in the upper right corner.
- Click on the "magnifying glass" to begin your search.
Note: You can use wild cards in place of a symbol or group of symbols. For example, multiple symbols can be replaced with an asterisk (*).
You have the possibility saving search criteria which you have already entered. To do so, simply click on "Save current search ..." after you have carried out that search. You now only need to call up your stored search to use the same search criteria again.
Project-Related, Advanced Search
If you search for a document or folder name in a specific project, please procced as follows:
- In the Start Page, click on the respective project in which you want to search for a document.
- Go to the "Documents" application.
- Change from the "Folders" tab to the "Search" tab in the left window.
- Please click on the link "Go to advanced search".
- Here you can chosse "More options" for the search and/or filter "Categories".
- Make the extended search settings.
- Enter the search term.
- Click on "Search".
Note: You can use wild cards in place of a symbol or group of symbols. For example, multiple symbols can be replaced with an asterisk (*).

Global Search
If you search for a document name or document, conversation and even drawing contents in all of your projects or organisations, please use our global full text search:
- Go to the "Start" page of the Project Space.
- Enter search term in the search field in the upper right corner.
- Click on the "magnifying glass" to begin your search.
- Click on the file as soon as search results appear.
- You will be directed to the place in the directory tree of the corresponding project where the file is located. Here you can then view the properties and/or download the file to your PC.
Note: In "Search Tips" on the right side of the results window you can find hints on how to limit your search effectively.
You are searching for drawings in the Project Space?
Filter criteria help you sort and find your drawings very easily. You will find filter criteria in the "Drawing Management" application between the drawing list and the toolbar.
- Click on "Choose filter criterion" to call up the drop-down menu with all available filter criteria. All accessible project categories and further standardized filter criteria are available to you.
- Select the desired filter criteria. All available parameters of the filter criteria will be displayed for you.
- Select one or more parameters. You can select as many filter parameters as have been saved in filter criteria. Please be aware that only parameters which have already been used are displayed.
- Select further filter criteria, if necessary. As soon as you have chosen 3 filter criteria, you can also set further filter criteria. To do so, click on the right arrow above the drop-down menu on the right side.
- Click on "Apply filters" to display your drawing selection.
- After you have set the filter criteria, you can save your filter to repeat the search at a later time. Click on "Save current filter ..." on the left.
- Enter a filter name.
- Confirm your entry with "Save".
- You can find your saved filter on the left side at "My filters".
- Use "Reset filter?" to reset your drawing selection.
Additionally the Drawing Management offers you further drawing selections:
"Current drawings" (Default) display the latest version of the current filtered drawings. This is the highest revision in combination with the highest status of this revision.
"My recently uploaded drawings" shows you the drawings which you have created in the last 30 days.
"Drawing Inbox" displays the drawings you have sent or received through conversations, repro orders or workflows.
"All drawings" gives you direct access to all the revisions of the current filtered drawings.
Note: In addition to filter options, you also have a quick search available. Using the "Search" entry field, you can search among the currently filtered drawings.
While searching for drawings, you were unable to find a certain parameter of the filter criteria?
In the selection of parameters for filter criteria, only parameters are shown which have been previously assigned. There must be at least one drawing which has already been categorized with this parameter.
